Both gynecology and obstetric patients can now take advantage of a three-dimensional ultrasound at the Eugie location. An on-site technician provides clinical ultrasounds for gynecological problems, often on the day of the patient's appointment eliminating the need to schedule and register at an imaging center. In addition to prenatal diagnostic use, the ultrasound offers expectant parents the chance to enjoy Baby's First Photo. Several different packages are available of three and four dimensional pictures of baby which are best taken between the 28th and 34th week of pregnancy.
A Robotics Option for Hysterectomy
A number of Desert West physicians are now performing hysterectomies using the da Vinci Surgical System. Women who are candidates for this precise minimally invasive procedure experience a quicker recovery, significantly less pain and better outcomes than traditional open surgery. The da Vinci hysterectomy surpasses the limits of conventional laparoscopic surgery as well. Better yet, the procedure reduces the need to convert to an open procedure, is covered by most insurance and can be scheduled at both Banner Estrella and Thunderbird Medical Centers. Hormone replacement therapy
"Bio-identical hormones" is a term many patients have heard about. It simply means hormones that are exactly the same as the ones produced in our own bodies. All bio-identical hormones are plant-based, coming from yams and soybeans. Although, often the hormones that our practitioners prescribe for relief of peri-menopausal symptoms ARE bio-identical, we do not often use compounding pharmacies for dispensing them, simply because there is no difference in safety or efficacy from the ones available at traditional pharmacies. In fact, manufactured bio-identical hormone doses are more strictly controlled than in compounding pharmacies, where FDA standards may not be met, and whose products may not be covered by insurance plans.
Generally, we have concerns about the need for testing blood or salivary hormone levels to determine which dose a patient may need. These levels vary throughout the day, and are not at all linked to which symptoms are bothersome. Treatment of these symptoms is very different from treating such conditions as diabetes or thyroid problems, where levels are crucial information. In using hormones, we prefer to treat people, rather than numbers, since each individual's needs vary. Also, insurance frequently does not cover the costs of these tests, which can be very expensive to you, the patient.

According to the American Pregnancy Association, there are a number of benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy including nausea control and relief of back, neck and joint pain.
